Rodney Hess, 36, was broadcasting on Facebook Live in Alamo, Tennessee, when he decided to block the traffic on a highway ramp by parking his vehicle sideways. The Police officers that responded to the situation said he refused command and became erratic.
They accused him of even trying to use his car to strike them at least twice. After the second attempt, one deputy opened fire, striking Hess through the windshield. He died some minutes later.
Hess’ fiancee Johnisha Provost said he suffered from bipolar disorder. “He wasn’t on a suicide mission. He was not trying to harm anybody. He was asking them for help and they shot him down,” she told local media.
