“Planet Earth II” nature documentary series produced by the BBC includes an incredible scene that seems taken from an action movie. It shows a marine iguana escaping from a group of deadly snakes.
The little iguana looks trapped in a snake’s coils, but finally managed to escape up a nearby rock. Matthew Meech, who edited the episode, told The Independent he was inspired by film directors such as Alfred Hitchcock, Christopher Nolan, Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg.
“Cutting wildlife films are like cutting silent movies, it’s all about action/reaction. Also timing, be it for comedy or thrills. The narration can provide some of this, but you don’t want to make the pictures just wallpaper for the commentary. The shots need to speak for themselves,” he said.
