Sereno, the horse, and Wagner Figueiredo de Lima, its owner, were very close. He was a cowboy in Cajazeiras, Brazil. They shared eight years side by side working with the cattle.
The rider died on January 1, after suffering an accident while driving his motorcycle. His brother, Wando de Lima, knew that Sereno had to be present at the funeral.
“That horse was all for Wagner,” said Wando, who will take care of it from now on. “It will always be part of the family,” he said.
The funeral was held on Tuesday 3. When they were loading the coffin to the vehicle that was going to take him to the graveyard, Sereno approached and stroked him with his head. Then he began to make a very sharp neigh. It seemed to be crying.
“It was as if the horse knew what was happening and wanted to say good-bye,” Wando said.
