Some 30,000 Arab and Kurdish fighters supported by the coalition led by the United States and France launched in early November a campaign that moves from the north to free Raqqa from ISIS. The operation comes in tandem with a strong offensive by the Iraqi military and Kurdish militias in Mosul, the ISIS fortress in Iraq, which has already reached the slums in the east of the city.
