The incident took place near Guadalupe Island, Mexico. A white shark was lunging for a large chunk of tuna tied to a rope from a boat. A diver was inside a metal cage to film the incredible moment on camera.
However, the worst happened. The shark somehow managed to get inside the cage.
“So this shark lunged at the bait, accidentally hit the side of the cage, was most likely confused and not able to swim backwards, it thrust forward and broke the metal rail of the cage,” the cameraman wrote on YouTube.
The crew that were on the boat opened the hatch to the cage. For their surprise, it was the shark who emerged from inside. It struggled back into the water before swimming off.
“Is somebody in the cage? Somebody’s in the cage?” one of the men is heard to say. Moments later, the diver appeared, tapping the top of his head with his right hand to signal he was alright. “My heart is going,” he said.
